Filmmaker’s Profile
Born into a family of accountants, Misha Balangue never expected to fall in love with film and filmmaking. Struggling with expectation versus ambition throughout her young life, she decided to take up BS Accounting and AB Communication Arts at De La Salle University. Studying film fuelled her desire to pursue it as a career and in her third year of college she dropped her Accountancy degree and hasn’t looked back since. It was through joining filmmaking workshops such as Filipino Pictures’ Independent Filmmaking workshop in 2008 that she met people who would take her into mainstream and independent movie productions, participating in variety of roles such as a production assistant, art director, and assistant director. Through these experiences she learned the importance of collaborating with different people, while respecting and appreciating their creative differences as they work together towards realizing a single vision.
